In New York state, temporary assistance is available to individuals who have little or no income. This can be done through electronic benefit transfer cards (EBT) twice a month. To apply for assistance your local Department of Social Services office will have the paperwork necessary to fill out as well as the people that you will need to discuss your path forward with.
